Ingredients

  • Half box orecchiette pasta
  • Salt for pasta water
  • 8 oz halal sausage
  • 4 garlic cloves, sliced
  • Broccoli, bite-sized pieces
  • Olive oil
  • Chili flakes (optional)
  • Grated Parmesan or Pecorino Romano (optional)

Instructions

  1.  Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook pasta until just shy of al dente.
  2.  Trim broccoli into bite-sized florets and slice garlic cloves thinly.
  3.  In a large skillet, heat olive oil and brown the sausage, breaking it apart.
  4.  Add sliced garlic and chili flakes, sauté until fragrant.
  5.  Stir in broccoli and cook until bright green and slightly tender.
  6.   Ladle in some pasta water to steam broccoli and create a light sauce.
  7.   Transfer pasta directly to the skillet, toss to combine and finish cooking.
  8.   Turn off the heat, stir in grated cheese and drizzle with extra olive oil.
  9.   Serve hot and enjoy!
