3/4 cup butter, softened

3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/2 cup molasses

1 large egg

1 teaspoon McCormick Pure Vanilla Extract

Instructions

1. Whisk flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt in a large bowl.

2. Beat softened butter and brown sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.

3. Mix in molasses, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.

4. Gradually beat in the flour mixture on low speed until a stiff dough forms.

5. Press dough into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

6. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Roll dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.

7. Cut into gingerbread men shapes and place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.

8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until edges are set and just beginning to brown.

9. Cool on sheets for 2 minutes, then move to wire racks to cool completely.

10. Decorate with icing and candies as desired.

Notes

Chill the dough for at least 4 hours to prevent spreading.
